What this trial studies
This pilot randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects and feasibility of an acceptance-based educational program designed for patients suffering from pneumoconiosis. Eighty participants will be recruited from community centers and randomly assigned to either an intervention group or a waitlist-control group. The intervention group will undergo a 6-week group-based program that includes four sessions focused on acceptance strategies and management of pneumoconiosis. Participants' psychological health, lifestyle changes, and cardiometabolic profiles will be assessed at the beginning and end of the program.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are ethnic Chinese adults aged 18 or older who are receiving compensation for pneumoconiosis.
Not a fit: Patients with mental, visual, hearing, or cognitive impairments that require regular medical follow-ups may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could improve the psychological well-being and overall health of patients with pneumoconiosis.
How similar studies have performed: While acceptance-based interventions have shown promise in other health conditions, this specific approach for pneumoconiosis is relatively novel.
