What this trial studies
This program aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a multifactorial intervention designed to prevent falls among individuals aged 65 and older over a four-year period. The study involves a randomized clinical trial with 264 participants who are assessed for fall risk using validated scales. Participants in the experimental group will receive a comprehensive intervention that includes a supervised physical exercise program, environmental adjustments, polypharmacy reviews, and health education sessions. The control group will receive general recommendations for fall prevention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are individuals aged 65 or older who live in Talavera de la Reina and have a moderate risk of falls.
Not a fit: Patients who are wheelchair-bound, have severe cognitive impairments, or have recently suffered from significant fractures may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the incidence of falls and related injuries in the elderly population, enhancing their mobility and independence.
