What this trial studies
This feasibility study aims to develop a multinational program focused on tertiary prevention of child sexual abuse, specifically targeting adult men who have committed such offenses. Conducted within the Minnesota Department of Corrections, the study will assess the implementation process and measure short-term changes in factors related to reoffending. Participants will engage in group therapy alongside standard treatment protocols, with data collected on various influencing factors from both staff and participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult men, 18 years or older, currently incarcerated for child sexual abuse offenses against victims under 14 years old.
Not a fit: Patients with uncontrolled major mental disorders or those who have engaged in recent violent behavior while incarcerated may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the risk of reoffending among men who have committed child sexual abuse.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is novel in its specific focus, similar interventions targeting recidivism in sexual offenders have shown promise in other studies.
