What this trial studies
The SHARE Program: SUSTAIN aims to enhance self-management of alcohol use and HIV among young people with HIV through an adaptive intervention. This program utilizes mobile health (mHealth) and telehealth strategies, including text message prompts and coaching sessions, to promote medication adherence and achieve viral suppression. The study will also assess barriers to implementing the intervention on a state-wide level and explore various demographic factors that may influence its effectiveness. By employing a Hybrid Experimental Design, the program seeks to provide insights into both individual and systemic factors affecting health outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18 to 29 with a history of alcohol use who reside in Florida and have access to the internet.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide consent, are pregnant, or are using long-acting injectables for HIV treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve medication adherence and health outcomes for young people living with HIV.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using mobile health interventions for improving medication adherence and health outcomes in similar populations.
