What this trial studies

This program aims to enhance cancer prevention behaviors among mothers of children with intellectual disabilities by implementing an 8-week intervention called PHeBAC. The intervention includes two face-to-face training sessions and three follow-up telephone interviews, focusing on promoting healthy behaviors such as not smoking, increasing physical activity, and participating in cancer screenings. The effectiveness of the program will be evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test data collected from participants. The control group will receive standard informational materials about cancer prevention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are mothers of children with intellectual disabilities who are enrolled in special education programs.

Not a fit: Mothers who are currently diagnosed with breast, cervical, or colorectal cancer will not benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly increase cancer screening participation and improve health behaviors among mothers and their children with intellectual disabilities.
