What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and evaluate a comprehensive asthma management program within schools, targeting children with asthma and their families. By integrating multiple components of evidence-based asthma guidelines into school practices, the program seeks to enhance adherence and sustainability of asthma care. The initiative involves training school staff and implementing systematic processes led by lay health workers to ensure effective asthma management. The goal is to bridge the gap in asthma care for minority and low-income youth, ultimately improving health outcomes at both the child and school levels.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children diagnosed with asthma and their families, as well as school staff and legal guardians involved with the participating schools.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a diagnosis of asthma or are not associated with the participating schools may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve asthma management and health outcomes for children in schools.
How similar studies have performed: Previous school-based asthma interventions have shown promising results, indicating potential success for this comprehensive approach.
