What this trial studies
This program focuses on older adults aged 65 and above who have sustained limb injuries and live alone. It aims to evaluate the long-term effects of a nurse practitioner-led, digitalized trauma care program on pain, functional disability, depression, loneliness, and overall health-related quality of life. The program is designed to provide comprehensive support to enhance recovery outcomes and address the unique challenges faced by this vulnerable population. By examining the enduring impacts of the Geriatric Trauma Care Program, the study seeks to fill a critical gap in understanding effective care strategies for older adults post-trauma.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 65 and above with limb injuries who live independently and have access to a smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients with severe injuries, cognitive impairments, or psychiatric illnesses may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve recovery outcomes and quality of life for older adults living alone after traumatic injuries.
How similar studies have performed: While short-term benefits of geriatric-focused trauma interventions have been documented, the long-term effectiveness of such programs remains less understood, making this approach relatively novel.
