What this trial studies
Project RISE is a randomized control trial designed to improve interoceptive awareness among college students with a history of suicidal ideation or low interoception. The intervention consists of four modules focusing on body awareness, emotional awareness, and self-care, while a comparator group engages in modules related to general health habits. Participants will be assessed through self-report measures, physiological tests, and implicit association tests to evaluate changes in interoception, eating pathology, and suicidality. The study aims to provide insights into the relationship between interoception and mental health outcomes in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are college students aged 18 or older with a history of suicidal ideation or low interoceptive awareness.
Not a fit: Patients under the age of 18 or those without a history of suicidal ideation or low interoception may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve mental health outcomes for college students by enhancing their awareness of internal sensations and reducing suicidal ideation.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, similar interventions focusing on interoception have shown promise in improving mental health outcomes in other populations.
