What this trial studies
The Stop Diabetes - Knowledge-based Solutions project aims to identify individuals at increased risk of type 2 diabetes and empower them to adopt healthier lifestyles. This is achieved through a combination of individual and environmental strategies that target both deliberative and automatic behavior processes. The study will involve a 1-year randomized controlled trial with 10,000 participants aged 18-70 in Finland, assessing various health metrics and lifestyle factors. Participants will engage in digital and face-to-face interventions to promote lifestyle modifications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18-70 years living in specific Finnish hospital districts who are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Not a fit: Patients with existing type 1 or type 2 diabetes, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes through effective lifestyle interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar lifestyle intervention approaches for diabetes prevention, indicating a promising avenue for this research.
