What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to determine the effectiveness of a coach-focused intervention in preventing sudden-onset, severe knee injuries among youth and senior amateur football players. Coaches will either receive weekly information and motivation on effective injury prevention training or continue with their usual practice for a duration of 14 weeks. Participants will report any knee injuries among their players through weekly text message surveys over an 18-week period. The study will compare the outcomes of both groups to assess the impact of the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are coaches or managers of Danish amateur football teams with players aged under 14 to senior levels.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those affiliated with teams requiring licensed physical trainers or solely with old boys'/girls' teams.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of knee injuries in amateur football players.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with coach-focused interventions in injury prevention, indicating potential success for this approach.
