What this trial studies

This study evaluates the impact of a personalized and secure internet platform that provides preoperative medical information, including an explanatory video about thyroid surgery, on patients' anxiety levels before surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving standard information or an experimental group with access to the additional online resources. The goal is to determine if this enhanced access to information can reduce preoperative anxiety among patients undergoing thyroid surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 75 who are scheduled for lobo-isthmectomy or total thyroidectomy and can complete self-questionnaires.

Not a fit: Patients who do not speak French, lack internet access, or have severe health impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce preoperative anxiety for patients undergoing thyroid surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that providing patients with enhanced preoperative information can lead to reduced anxiety, suggesting this approach may be effective.
