What this trial studies

This study aims to validate two clinical prediction models designed to assess the likelihood of experiencing moderate-to-severe acute and chronic pain following surgical procedures. Conducted across multiple centers in Denmark, it will involve adult patients undergoing elective or sub-acute surgeries. The study will recruit a total of 748 patients to ensure robust validation of the prediction models, which will help in understanding pain outcomes post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for elective or sub-acute surgical procedures.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments that prevent informed consent will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in developing prediction models for postoperative pain, indicating that this approach has potential for success.
