What this trial studies

An observational cohort at OLVG Hospital will use routinely collected clinical, surgical, and demographic data from adults with hip fractures to train a machine‑learning model. The model will aim to predict mobility and independence in activities of daily living three months after the fracture using baseline and perioperative variables. Patients who do not consent to data use are excluded, and outcomes will be measured at three months using standardized mobility and ADL assessments. The model's performance will be validated within the collected cohort and reported with standard prediction metrics.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults over 18 who have sustained a hip fracture and consent to use of their medical data are the intended participants.

Not a fit: Patients who do not give permission for data use or whose clinical profiles differ markedly from the enrolled population may not receive accurate predictions.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the model could give patients and clinicians personalized predictions to guide treatment decisions and rehabilitation planning.

How similar studies have performed: Machine‑learning models have been used successfully to predict mortality after hip fracture, but models specifically predicting post‑surgical mobility and ADL recovery are limited and represent a more novel application.
