Platform for Precision Oncology using Patient-Derived Cancer Models
La Piattaforma ACC di Ricerca Preclinica Per l'Oncologia di Precisione

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on the implementation and validation of Patient Derived Cancer Models (PDCM) generated from tissues or cells of patients with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. It aims to enhance the molecular and biological understanding of tumors and evaluate the efficacy and sensitivity of pharmacological treatments. The study will create a comprehensive database of PDCMs from participating Italian hospitals, facilitating the sharing and characterization of these models. By establishing standardized workflows and conducting cross-validation experiments, the project seeks to build a network of reference centers for drug screening.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients, including children, with solid tumors or hematologic malignancies who have available tissue or tumor cell material.
Not a fit: Patients without available tissue or tumor cell material may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective and personalized treatment options for patients with cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing patient-derived models have shown promise in improving treatment outcomes, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
