What this trial studies

This trial is designed to pilot-test a family-based intervention aimed at preventing dating violence among Latine adolescents and their caregivers. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a community-based six-week intervention program or a wait-list control group that will receive a resource guide. The program focuses on culturally affirming prevention strategies tailored to the needs of Hispanic and Latino families. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of the intervention in reducing intimate partner violence and promoting healthy relationships.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include Hispanic or Latino adolescents aged 12-16 and their caregivers who live within 50 miles of Pittsburgh.

Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as Hispanic or Latino or do not meet the age and residency criteria may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce instances of dating violence among Latine youth and foster healthier family dynamics.
