What this trial studies
This project aims to develop and test a physiotherapist-led intervention for adolescents aged 12-19 who experience chronic pain and psychological distress. The intervention focuses on graded exposure to physical activity and reactivation to address both physical and emotional symptoms. By providing an evidence-based and cost-effective treatment, the study seeks to reduce the risk of sustained problems into adulthood. The approach is designed to be preventative, targeting adolescents before their issues become more severe.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 12-19 experiencing persistent musculoskeletal pain and psychological distress.
Not a fit: Patients with serious diseases, severe mental health issues, or those currently participating in other rehabilitation programs may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the quality of life for adolescents suffering from chronic pain and emotional distress.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using physiotherapist-led interventions for similar conditions, indicating potential for success in this approach.
