What this trial studies

The trial enrolls adults aged 70 and older and assigns them to one of three intervention groups combining physical exercise and/or cognitive training. Interventions are delivered in person at a single center and are intended to target quality of life, cognitive performance, and mobility. Outcome measures will include standardized quality-of-life questionnaires, cognitive tests such as the MoCA, and mobility assessments over the intervention period. Participants with absolute contraindications to exercise, severe cognitive impairment, or severe visual loss are excluded.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are people aged 70 or older who can give informed consent, are able to partake in physical exercise, and do not have severe cognitive impairment or major visual loss.

Not a fit: Patients with absolute contraindications to exercise, severe cognitive impairment (MoCA ≤ 12), severe visual impairment, or who cannot attend in-person sessions are unlikely to benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If effective, the interventions could help older adults preserve or improve quality of life, thinking skills, and physical mobility.

How similar studies have performed: Previous trials have shown modest benefits of physical exercise and cognitive training on mobility and cognition in older adults, though results for combined interventions have been mixed.
