What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of a pharmacist-led educational model, known as the AR-PRISE Model, in managing patients with allergic rhinitis compared to standard pharmaceutical care. Conducted over six months at a tertiary hospital's otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinic, participants will be randomized into two groups: one receiving standard care and the other receiving pharmacist-led education. The study will assess various outcomes, including disease severity, knowledge level, symptom control, medication adherence, and quality of life at baseline and after six months. Follow-ups will occur at specified intervals to monitor progress and outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Malaysian adults aged 18 to 80 diagnosed with allergic rhinitis who can read and write in English or Malay.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, lactating, or have chronic rhinosinusitis or other significant comorbidities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the management and quality of life for patients suffering from allergic rhinitis.

How similar studies have performed: While pharmacist-led educational interventions have shown promise in other areas of healthcare, this specific approach for allergic rhinitis is relatively novel.
