What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the impact of microbiome on the treatment of urogenital cancers by comparing two groups of patients undergoing surgical treatment. One group will receive antibiotics while the other will receive a placebo, allowing researchers to assess the role of microbiome in recovery and treatment outcomes. The study aims to determine if personalized treatment based on microbiome can improve patient outcomes in localized urological cancers.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with a biopsy-verified diagnosis of localized urological cancer.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of genitourinary tract cancers, recent hospitalization, or those with diabetes may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more effective and personalized treatment strategies for patients with urogenital cancers.

How similar studies have performed: While the role of microbiome in cancer treatment is an emerging field, this specific approach has not been widely tested, making it a novel investigation.
