What this trial studies
This study aims to implement a personalized physical activity program for older adults hospitalized in geriatric units to prevent functional decline associated with bed rest. The program is designed to be feasible and tailored to the individual functional capacities of patients aged 65 and over. By addressing the common issue of physical inactivity during hospital stays, the study seeks to improve mobility and overall health outcomes for frail elderly patients. The interventions include various physical activity programs that are adjusted based on the patients' needs and capabilities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults aged 65 and over who are hospitalized and planned for discharge to home.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to participate in physical activity due to contraindications or severe health limitations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the risk of functional decline and improve recovery outcomes for older adults after hospitalization.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that physical activity programs can effectively prevent functional decline in hospitalized elderly patients, indicating a promising approach.
