What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance early intervention in first episode psychosis by utilizing an innovative eHealth tool that offers personalized cognitive training tailored to individual cognitive abilities. The intervention involves a mobile application designed for cognitive training, including engaging video games, to improve cognitive functions that are often neglected in early psychosis. By making cognitive remediation more accessible and youth-friendly, the study seeks to address the negative impacts of psychosis on education and employment outcomes for adolescents and young adults. Participants will be adolescents and young adults aged 16 to 35 who are newly diagnosed with an episode of psychosis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents and young adults aged 16 to 35 who have recently been diagnosed with first episode psychosis.
Not a fit: Patients with severe medical conditions, intellectual disabilities, or those unable to participate in cognitive training due to sensorimotor deficits may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve cognitive functioning and quality of life for patients experiencing early psychosis.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using cognitive remediation for chronic psychosis, but this approach focusing on early intervention with personalized tools is relatively novel.
