What this trial studies

This program focuses on Resistance Intensive Personal Training (RIPT) to improve motor function and achieve personal goals for youth with cerebral palsy. It combines strength and power training delivered by specialized physiotherapists and fitness professionals in a community setting. The study will assess the effectiveness of this intervention over two 12-week sessions and explore the feasibility of implementing such programs in collaboration with community stakeholders. The aim is to enhance participation in physical activities and improve overall functional abilities.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are youth aged 8 to 17 years with cerebral palsy who can follow directions in English and exert maximum effort.

Not a fit: Patients who are younger than 8 years, older than 17 years, unable to follow directions in English, or have severe neuromotor impairments may not benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the motor function and quality of life for youth with cerebral palsy.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for strength training interventions in improving motor function in youth with cerebral palsy, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
