What this trial studies
This randomized controlled trial aims to address sarcopenic obesity among college students in Taiwan by implementing a 12-week peer support program. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which receives educational videos and group exercises, or a control group that receives printed health education materials. The study will assess body composition and exercise adherence through questionnaires and group discussions, with data analyzed using statistical methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The goal is to enhance awareness and promote healthier lifestyle choices among at-risk students.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are undergraduate students aged 18 to 25 with a BMI between 23 and 27 or a body fat percentage between 25% and 35%.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic diseases or conditions that restrict movement will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve exercise adherence and nutritional awareness among college students, reducing the risk of sarcopenic obesity.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using peer support and educational interventions to improve health outcomes, suggesting this approach may be effective.
