What this trial studies
This interventional study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the MYCardio-PEER program, which is a peer-led digital health initiative designed for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases in low-income communities at risk. Participants will engage in an 8-week program that includes both digital and face-to-face components, focusing on improving knowledge, lifestyle behaviors, and cardiovascular disease biomarkers. Following the intervention, participants will be monitored for 12 weeks to assess adherence, satisfaction, and the program's sustainability. The control group will receive standard printed materials on dietary and lifestyle management for cardiovascular health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 30 and above from low-income households who are at moderate to high risk for cardiovascular diseases.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have severe pre-existing conditions, or are currently enrolled in other studies may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve cardiovascular health outcomes in low-income communities by promoting healthier lifestyle choices.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with peer-led interventions in health promotion, suggesting that this approach may be effective, though the specific digital health component is relatively novel.
