Patient-reported outcomes and complications after structural rhinoplasty with septal extension grafts

Patient-Reported Outcomes and Complications Following Structural Rhinoplasty Using Septal Extension Grafts: A Prospective Cohort Study

Observational Cumhuriyet University Hospital · NCT07531810

What this trial studies

This single-center prospective observational cohort will enroll consecutive adults undergoing primary structural rhinoplasty with septal extension grafts, all performed by the same surgical team using a standardized structural approach. Validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and clinical findings will be collected preoperatively and at approximately 1, 3, and 6 months after surgery. The study will document postoperative complications and clinical signs such as tip stiffness, palpable grafts, columellar deviation, and the need for revision surgery. Investigators will correlate changes in PROM scores with clinical findings to better define patient-centered outcomes after SEG-based tip support.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 and older planning a primary structural rhinoplasty with a septal extension graft who can complete questionnaires and attend follow-up visits are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing revision rhinoplasty, concurrent major craniofacial procedures, or those unable to complete preoperative PROMs or attend follow-ups are unlikely to benefit from the study's findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help surgeons choose techniques that improve patient satisfaction and reduce complications after structural rhinoplasty with septal extension grafts.

How similar studies have performed: PROMs have been increasingly used in rhinoplasty and smaller or retrospective reports exist, but prospective longitudinal data specifically focused on septal extension grafts are limited.
