What this trial studies
This pilot project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a parenting intervention that combines positive parenting practices, ethnic-racial socialization, and healthy lifestyle behaviors for Black and Latinx families with preschool-aged children. The study will compare outcomes in children's social-emotional functioning and health behaviors between those receiving the intervention and a control group. Utilizing a type 1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation design, the research will also gather data on how well the intervention is delivered to inform future implementation efforts. The goal is to improve both child and parenting outcomes through this comprehensive approach.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 3-6 years who identify as Black or Latinx and have a parent or caregiver willing to participate.
Not a fit: Children with cognitive or psychological conditions that limit communication or physical health conditions that restrict activity may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could enhance the social-emotional well-being and healthy lifestyle choices of Black and Latinx children.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar interventions targeting parenting and health behaviors have shown promise in other studies.
