Pain management techniques after breast cancer surgery
Ultrasound Guided Serratus Anterior Plane Block Versus Costotransverse Block on Postoperative Analgesia and Safety Following Modified Radical Mastectomy Surgeries
This study is testing two new pain management techniques after breast cancer surgery to see if they can help patients feel better and recover faster compared to the standard pain control method.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness and safety of two regional anesthesia techniques, the serratus anterior plane block (SAPB) and the costotransverse block (CTB), compared to patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) for managing post-operative pain in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy (MRM). Patients will be randomly assigned to one of three groups to receive either SAPB, CTB, or PCA. The goal is to enhance pain relief and improve patient satisfaction following surgery, which is crucial for recovery and early ambulation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women scheduled for modified radical mastectomy who are classified as ASA Physical Status Class I or II and weigh between 60 to 100 kilograms.
Not a fit: Patients with significant cognitive dysfunction, psychiatric disorders, or those classified as ASA Physical Status Class III or IV may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing breast cancer surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar regional anesthesia techniques, indicating potential for success in this approach.
