Outcomes of fecal continence and quality of life after surgery for sacrococcygeal teratoma
Fecal Continence Outcomes and Quality of Life After Excision of Sacrococcygeal Teratma (Retrospective Study)

What this trial studies
This observational study examines the outcomes of fecal continence and quality of life in children who have undergone surgical excision of sacrococcygeal teratoma since July 2010. It aims to assess postoperative complications related to bowel function through questionnaires completed by the patients or their guardians. The study focuses on understanding how these outcomes affect the overall quality of life for the affected children. By analyzing the data collected, the researchers hope to identify patterns and potential areas for improvement in postoperative care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children older than 3 years who have had surgery for sacrococcygeal teratoma since July 2010.
Not a fit: Patients who were lost to follow-up before 6 months after surgery or those with Currarino triad may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into improving postoperative care and quality of life for children affected by sacrococcygeal teratoma.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be limited data on similar studies, the focus on fecal continence outcomes in this specific population is relatively novel.
