Oura Blood Pressure Profile
Oura Blood Pressure Profile Study: An Evaluation of the Oura Blood Pressure Profile Algorithm for Identifying Signs of Hypertension
This project will test whether Oura's Blood Pressure Profile algorithm can spot signs of high blood pressure in adults who use an Oura Ring in the United States.

What this trial studies
This is a prospective, single-arm, observational, non-significant-risk device study of Oura's investigational Blood Pressure Profile algorithm. Eligible participants are adult Oura Ring users (Gen3 or newer) in the United States who use the English Oura app and can provide electronic consent. The study will passively collect ring sensor data and run the algorithm to identify signals consistent with hypertension without introducing any interventions. Participants with implanted cardiac electronic devices, those who are currently pregnant, or within 12 weeks postpartum are excluded.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are U.S. residents aged 22 or older who already use an Oura Ring Gen3 or newer, use the English Oura app on a smartphone, and can provide e-consent, excluding those with implanted cardiac devices or recent pregnancy.
Not a fit: People without an Oura Ring, those under 22, residents outside the United States, users of non-English Oura app versions, those with implanted cardiac devices, or those who are pregnant or within 12 weeks postpartum are unlikely to benefit from joining.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the algorithm could help detect signs of high blood pressure earlier using a consumer wearable, which may prompt earlier clinical follow-up.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies of consumer wearables for blood pressure detection have shown mixed and limited results, and the Oura Blood Pressure Profile algorithm remains relatively novel and not yet validated in large populations.
