What this trial studies

This research focuses on optimizing the remote collection of dried blood spots (DBS) from finger sticks and analyzing fatty acids and mitochondrial activity from blood samples. Participants will provide blood samples through both venous draws and finger sticks, with one collection done remotely using a DBS kit. The study aims to enhance methods for measuring fatty acids, mitochondrial function, and other metabolic markers while also collecting demographic and lifestyle information through questionnaires. The ultimate goal is to improve the analysis of lipids and energy metabolism in healthy individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy adults aged 18 years or older who do not smoke.

Not a fit: Patients with diabetes may not receive benefit from this study due to exclusion criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more efficient and accessible methods for analyzing lipid and energy metabolism, benefiting patient monitoring and health assessments.

How similar studies have performed: While this study explores novel methods for blood sample analysis, similar approaches in optimizing remote collection and analysis have shown promise in other research.
