What this trial studies
This trial evaluates the feasibility and early efficacy of an online group intervention called Empowered Relief (ER) for Spanish-speaking adults with chronic pain. The intervention consists of a single two-hour session delivered by certified clinicians, aimed at equipping participants with effective pain relief skills. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the ER intervention or Usual Care, with follow-up surveys conducted at one month to assess changes in pain intensity and interference. The study seeks to address the gap in access to behavioral pain care for non-English speaking populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Spanish-speaking adults aged 18 and older who have been experiencing chronic pain for at least three months.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments or those who have previously participated in the Empowered Relief class may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve pain management and quality of life for Spanish-speaking patients suffering from chronic pain.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown the efficacy of the Empowered Relief intervention in various settings, suggesting a promising approach for this novel online delivery method.
