What this trial studies
This intervention focuses on enhancing child nutrition by promoting the Mediterranean dietary pattern among low-income families through an online cooking program. It targets parent-child dyads, encouraging parents to involve their children in home food preparation, which is linked to healthier dietary habits. The program aims to assess its feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy in improving dietary practices and health outcomes. By leveraging the internet, the initiative seeks to provide convenient and engaging cooking education tailored to families with limited resources.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include families with a child aged 10-12 years who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals and have reliable internet access.
Not a fit: Patients with significant medical conditions affecting dietary intake or those with major sensory impairments may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to improved dietary habits and reduced cardiovascular disease risk factors in children from low-income households.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success in using online interventions to promote healthy dietary behaviors, making this approach promising yet still innovative.
