What this trial studies
This study analyzes the effects of a 3-month self-applied online program aimed at promoting healthy eating and increased physical activity among adults with obesity. Participants will be recruited from 6 public health centers and randomly assigned to either an experimental group receiving instructions from their own doctor or a control group receiving instructions from a different doctor. The study will assess various health metrics, including body mass index, blood pressure, and adherence to the Mediterranean diet, to evaluate the program's effectiveness. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is central to this approach, allowing for broader reach and cost-effective health promotion.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults with a BMI greater than 25 and less than 35 who are overweight or have grade I obesity.
Not a fit: Patients without internet access, those with serious psychological disorders, or those currently receiving weight loss treatment elsewhere may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could help patients achieve healthier lifestyles and improve their overall health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing online interventions for lifestyle changes have shown promising results, indicating that this approach is both viable and effective.
