What this trial studies
Engage-Qatar PD will adapt an existing coaching program into an online, culturally tailored eight-week self-management course for people with Parkinson's in Qatar. Development will use participatory design methods with patients serving as co-designers to ensure cultural relevance and usability. Participants will receive one face-to-face coaching session followed by seven online sessions personalized to their abilities and goals. The primary focus of this stage is adapting content and delivery for online use within the Qatari context rather than measuring long-term clinical outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults in Qatar with a neurologist-confirmed Parkinson's diagnosis who are ambulatory (with or without assistive devices), can follow study commands, and who pass the PAR-Q or provide medical clearance.
Not a fit: People with other neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries or acute illnesses that prevent safe exercise, or those who require physical assistance to walk are unlikely to benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help people with Parkinson's increase regular physical activity, improve function and quality of life, and gain culturally appropriate self-management skills.
How similar studies have performed: Personalized coaching approaches have shown promise in Huntington's disease and some Parkinson's programs, but online, culturally adapted delivery in Qatar remains relatively novel.
