What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of an online group Neurobehavioral Therapy (NBT) combined with a text messaging intervention specifically designed for veterans suffering from epilepsy and major depressive disorder (MDD). Participants will engage in therapy sessions conducted over the internet, utilizing their home internet access and mobile devices for communication. The study focuses on veterans who are asymptomatic but have chronic conditions, ensuring they have the necessary technology and support to participate effectively.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are English-speaking veterans with internet access who have a clinical diagnosis of major depressive disorder and epilepsy.
Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant, experiencing suicidal ideation, or have active psychosis will not benefit from this study.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * English speaking veterans * has home internet access * has access to and familiarity in using a computer or tablet at least weekly * Asymptomatic patients with chronic conditions * has access to a mobile device with Short Message Service (SMS) text and picture capability * has an active clinical diagnosis of major depressive disorder based on the International Classification of Diseases, 10th version (ICD-10) * has an ICD-10 diagnosis of epilepsy with at least one seizure documented within the last five years Exclusion Criteria: * pregnancy * Veterans that have current suicidal ideation * have active psychosis; and have an ICD-10 diagnosis of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures or conversion disorder.
