What this trial studies
This project aims to revise and test an online education program designed to empower Black American caregivers who provide care for family members or friends living with dementia. The study involves two phases, where participants will be randomly assigned to either the Caregiving While Black program or a waitlist control group. The program focuses on enhancing caregivers' skills, knowledge, and emotional well-being through an interactive and user-centered design approach. Researchers will assess the program's efficacy in improving caregivers' sense of mastery and their ability to manage care recipients' symptoms.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Black American caregivers aged 18 or older who provide hands-on care to a community-dwelling person living with dementia.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those under 18, cognitively impaired individuals, or those planning to relinquish caregiving responsibilities.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the quality of life and emotional well-being of Black caregivers managing dementia care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in similar educational interventions for caregivers, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this approach.
