What this trial studies
The intervention delivers an online pain neuroscience education program to pregnant women at the start of the third trimester to reconceptualize childbirth-related pain. Participants receive standardized prenatal educational modules online and complete outcome assessments measuring fear of childbirth, anxiety, confidence, and pain-related beliefs. Key exclusions are multiple pregnancy, prior spinal surgery, and current psychiatric disorders. The program is run by researchers at Cardenal Herrera University with follow-up assessments to track changes after the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women aged 18 or older who are entering the third trimester with a single pregnancy and no history of spinal surgery or current psychiatric disorder.
Not a fit: Women with multiple pregnancies, previous spinal surgery, or active psychiatric disorders would be excluded and are unlikely to benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, participants may experience less fear about childbirth and greater confidence during labor.
How similar studies have performed: Pain neuroscience education has shown benefits for pain, anxiety, and related fears in other conditions, but its specific application to fear of childbirth is relatively new with limited prior trials.
