What this trial studies
This study evaluates two Internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) interventions specifically designed for Canadian public safety personnel (PSP) experiencing symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. The interventions aim to assess preferences for disorder-specific versus transdiagnostic care, engagement levels, and the effectiveness of these therapies in reducing symptoms and improving functioning. The study addresses the unique challenges faced by PSP in accessing traditional mental health services, including stigma and logistical barriers. Outcomes will help inform the implementation of ICBT tailored for this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Canadian public safety personnel aged 18 and older who are experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress.
Not a fit: Patients at high risk of suicide or those currently receiving regular psychological treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve mental health outcomes for public safety personnel by providing accessible and effective treatment options.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy for various mental health conditions, indicating potential success for this approach.
