What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between hypertension and hypervolemia in kidney transplant patients within the first three months post-transplant. It involves 150 patients who will self-measure their blood pressure and weight at home, with data collected via a specialized application. Blood pressure will be monitored both in clinical settings and through self-measurements, allowing researchers to analyze the correlation between blood pressure levels and extracellular water volume. The study will take place at the Nantes University Hospital, focusing on patients with untreated hypertension.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have undergone isolated kidney transplantation and exhibit hypertension.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of non-renal transplantation or those currently treated with diuretics will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better management of hypertension in kidney transplant patients, improving their overall health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study is novel, similar studies have shown promising results in understanding hypertension management in transplant populations.
