What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on individuals with Grade I ankle sprains, which are common injuries particularly among athletes and active individuals. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Bowen technique, a treatment method that has shown promise for other musculoskeletal issues, in managing these ankle sprains. Participants will receive cryotherapy as part of their treatment regimen, and their recovery will be monitored to assess outcomes. The study seeks to fill a gap in the existing literature regarding the Bowen technique's application for this specific type of injury.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with a Grade I acute ankle sprain.

Not a fit: Patients with recurrent ankle injuries or those with more severe Grade II or III sprains will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new, effective treatment option for patients suffering from first-degree ankle sprains.

How similar studies have performed: While the Bowen technique has been effective for other musculoskeletal conditions, its application for Grade I ankle sprains has not been extensively studied, making this approach relatively novel.
