What this trial studies
This observational study aims to collect clinical data from children under 18 years old who are hospitalized due to mycoplasma infections in France. It was initiated in response to a notable increase in cases observed between June and November 2023. The study will gather information on symptoms, clinical complications, and results from various biological and microbiological tests conducted during hospitalization. Additionally, it will document treatments administered and imaging results such as thoracic x-rays and lung ultrasounds.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are hospitalized children under 18 years old with documented mycoplasma infections.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a confirmed mycoplasma infection or are not hospitalized will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding and management of mycoplasma infections in children, leading to improved treatment protocols.
How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific outbreak, similar observational studies have successfully characterized infections and improved clinical management in the past.
