Observing brain development in Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease
Longitudinal Assessment of Brain Structure and Function in Juvenile Onset Huntington's Disease (JoHD)
This study is trying to learn more about how the brains of young people with Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease develop compared to those with Adult-onset Huntington's Disease.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate brain development in individuals with Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease (JoHD) compared to those with Adult-onset Huntington's Disease (AoHD). Participants aged 6-30 will undergo cognitive tests, behavioral assessments, physical and neurologic evaluations, and MRI scans to gather data on brain structure and function. The study seeks to identify reliable biomarkers for JoHD and enhance understanding of its unique clinical characteristics. By comparing data from JoHD patients with at-risk populations and adults diagnosed with HD, the research aims to fill the knowledge gap regarding this rare condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 6-30 with a clinical diagnosis of Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease.
Not a fit: Patients with significant medical conditions unrelated to JoHD or those with a history of major surgeries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and potential therapeutic strategies for patients with Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease.
How similar studies have performed: While large-scale studies have been successful in Adult-onset Huntington's Disease, this approach for Juvenile-onset Huntington's Disease is novel and underexplored.
