What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the morbidity, risk factors, and natural progression of chronic lower limb vein disease in individuals both with and without varicose veins. It involves a multicenter prospective cohort design, where participants are monitored annually through clinical and ultrasound assessments. Data is collected and maintained in a digital registry to track changes over time and identify potential risk factors associated with the development of varicose veins.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals without a history of invasive treatment for chronic venous disorders and those who can commit to annual assessments.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of venous thrombosis or previous invasive treatments for chronic venous disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of varicose veins and lead to improved prevention and management strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on varicose veins, this specific prospective cohort approach focusing on the natural course and risk factors is relatively novel.
