What this trial studies
This observational study aims to gather real-world evidence from a large cohort of COVID-19 patients to better understand long COVID. It will utilize the NIH Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO) system, which will be adapted specifically for long COVID patients. By collecting and analyzing data from individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, the study seeks to create a comprehensive instrument that can enhance knowledge about the long-term effects of the virus. The findings may help inform future research and treatment strategies for long COVID.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have tested positive for COVID-19 at MultiCare facilities and can communicate in English or Spanish.
Not a fit: Patients who are younger than 18, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, hospitalized at recruitment, or have cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the long-term effects of COVID-19, leading to improved care and management strategies for affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: While observational studies on COVID-19 have been conducted, this specific approach utilizing the NIH PRO system tailored for long COVID is relatively novel.
