What this trial studies

This multicentre retrospective study focuses on Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV), a common congenital heart condition. It aims to analyze the clinical features, long-term progression, and surgical outcomes of BAV in Asian populations, which exhibit different morphological characteristics compared to Western populations. The study will collect data from patients diagnosed with BAV through echocardiography or other imaging methods between December 2021 and October 2022 at several hospitals in Nanjing. By examining clinical symptoms, surgical interventions, and follow-up results, the study seeks to improve treatment and management strategies for affected patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with Bicuspid Aortic Valve through echocardiography between December 2021 and October 2022.

Not a fit: Patients whose Bicuspid Aortic Valve diagnosis is unclear or not confirmed by echocardiography and cardiac surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding and treatment of Bicuspid Aortic Valve in Asian patients, leading to better clinical outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on Bicuspid Aortic Valve exist, this specific focus on the Asian population's morphological differences is relatively novel.
