Nutritional status monitoring for adults with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

Nutritional Status Assessment in Adult Patients Followed for Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors at Strasbourg University Hospital

Observational University Hospital, Strasbourg, France · NCT07302100

What this trial studies

This observational study will collect historical and current nutritional data from adults aged 18–70 who have been followed for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors at CHU de Strasbourg between 1 January 2000 and 30 November 2024. Investigators will record measures such as weight, body mass index, laboratory nutritional markers, and any documented nutritional interventions, and will relate these to tumor features and clinical outcomes. No experimental treatments are given; the protocol is descriptive and aims to characterize the prevalence and pattern of malnutrition in this patient group. Results are intended to inform nutritional screening and management pathways for patients with typically slow‑growing gastroenteropancreatic NETs.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 to 70 diagnosed with a gastric, pancreatic, or intestinal neuroendocrine tumor between 1 January 2000 and 30 November 2024 who are followed at the CHU de Strasbourg endocrine/nutrition service.

Not a fit: Patients outside the 18–70 age range, those not followed at CHU de Strasbourg, or those whose tumors were reclassified as non‑neuroendocrine by pathology are unlikely to receive direct benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the study could help clinicians identify patients at risk of malnutrition earlier and guide nutritional care that may improve quality of life and clinical outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Prior cancer research has shown that malnutrition predicts poorer outcomes and that nutritional interventions can improve results, but targeted evidence specifically for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors remains limited.
