What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of nurse-led education programmes aimed at enhancing infection prevention and control (IPC) practices among childcare workers in daycare centres in Bangkok, Thailand. The study compares the impact of both online and onsite educational interventions on participants' IPC knowledge, attitudes, practices, and hand hygiene compliance. By utilizing a cluster randomized controlled trial design, the research seeks to fill existing gaps in IPC training for childcare workers, focusing on comprehensive education that includes various IPC components beyond just hand hygiene. The trial aims to provide robust evidence on the effectiveness of these educational programmes in improving the overall IPC practices in daycare settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are registered childcare workers in Bangkok who have been employed for at least three months and care for children aged 0-5 years.
Not a fit: Participants currently attending or planning to attend other IPC training within six months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this programme could significantly enhance the infection prevention practices of childcare workers, leading to safer environments for children in daycare centres.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research on nurse-led IPC education specifically for childcare workers, similar educational interventions in other healthcare settings have shown positive outcomes.
