What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of transcranial infrared light stimulation (TILS) on individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The researchers at the University of Texas at Austin aim to determine whether this non-invasive therapy can improve cognitive functions and behavioral symptoms associated with ASD. TILS targets cytochrome c oxidase, a key enzyme involved in mitochondrial function, which is often impaired in individuals with ASD. The study will recruit participants aged 4 to 60 years, including both those with ASD and those without, to assess the potential benefits of repeated TILS administration.
