What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) on attention in adults, including those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Participants will be screened for eligibility using the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale and will be randomly assigned to receive either active tPBM or a sham treatment. The goal is to determine if tPBM can enhance cognitive function and attention in both healthy adults and those with ADHD. The intervention lasts for eight minutes and aims to assess improvements in sustained attention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years and older, including those diagnosed with ADHD.
Not a fit: Patients with significant neurological disorders or those who do not meet the age requirement may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a new non-invasive treatment option for improving attention in individuals with ADHD and related cognitive deficits.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of tPBM has shown promise in enhancing cognitive function in healthy adults, its specific effects on attention in ADHD have not been previously studied, making this a novel approach.
