What this trial studies
This clinical study evaluates how a new formulation of vitamin B12 affects anaerobic and cognitive performance in male cyclists. Participants will undergo a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover design, where they will take either the vitamin B12 supplement or a placebo before performance tests. The study aims to improve the bioavailability of vitamin B12 and assess its impact on physical and mental tasks. Participants will be monitored through medical examinations, blood tests, and performance evaluations over multiple visits.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are male cyclists who train between 6-15 hours per week and have a BMI between 18-25 kg/m2.
Not a fit: Patients who smoke, consume alcohol regularly, or have metabolic, cardiorespiratory, or digestive pathologies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance athletic performance and cognitive function in cyclists through improved vitamin B12 supplementation.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored the effects of vitamin B12 on performance, but this specific formulation and its bioavailability enhancement is a novel approach.
